Have your say on how we support Hackney businesses
We’re committed to working in partnership with businesses in Hackney to enable them to grow and prosper – whether that’s nurturing start-ups, providing continuity for established businesses, or supporting scaling enterprises.
But how we do that should be shaped by the needs of the businesses that help make Hackney the exciting place that it is today.
That’s why we’re making sure your views are at the heart of the future of business support in Hackney. Whether it’s in a roundtable workshop or an online survey, your feedback will help us ensure the right support reaches the right people, shape our future business support services, and campaign for the changes that you need from government.
What we are doing:
Business Survey 2023
Hackney Council is conducting a survey of local businesses to inform support provided by the Council to local businesses and organisations to help them develop and grow, while navigating current economic challenges.
Winter Engagement Workshops
Building on the Business Survey, this series of workshops allows for a small roundtable discussion. Topics range from the development of a local economic plan for Hackney to shape and grow an inclusive economy, development of local business support offers for 2023 to 2025, inform what we ask of the government to support businesses over the coming years.
Already, the workshops have helped us curate a series of tailored business support events with our partner, Newable, which will soon be shared with businesses.
These workshops are open to all businesses and are being held at the Fisheries in London Fields. In addition to this, we have been collaborating with workspace providers to coordinate sessions with their membership community.

Green business baseline online survey
Do you own a green business? We have commissioned Oxford Economics to undertake a survey of local businesses operating in Hackney’s green economy, to identify their characteristics, location and business networks, and the opportunities and challenges that local green businesses face.
